EMANUELLE IN AMERICA TO SCREEN IN AUSTIN JUNE 15th

Severin Films is thrilled to be supporting a very special screening at Austin's AFS Cinema on June 15th, featuring our favourite Emanuelle in her most notorious film - and a host of film programmers and historians on hand to celebrate the series in style.
But for Black Emanuelle fans not in the Austin area, you may find something of interest at the bottom of the  announcement nonetheless...

Special Event
EMANUELLE IN AMERICA
Directed by Joe D'Amato
Italy, 1977, 1h 35min, DCP, Dubbed in English

After the Just Jaeckin movie EMMANUELLE became a global smash hit, there was a shadow series of films that followed, the so-called “Black Emanuelle” series, starring the Indonesian-born model-actress Laura Gemser. These films were made by Italian filmmakers Bitto Albertini and Joe D’Amato and combined the erotic thrills of the original EMMANUELLE with some Mondo elements to create rough, sex-filled travelogs. For this special screening of the completely insane EMANUELLE IN AMERICA, we will be joined by a panel of special guests who will discuss the film after the screening. Panelists include Lars Nilsen, Bryan Connolly, Jazmyne Moreno, Liz Purchell, and Amanda Reyes. Exploitation film scholar Elizabeth Purchell will also present her new documentary, THE NAKED EYE: SEX AND THE MONDO FILM (43 mins).

Emanuelle in America has been newly restored by Severin Films as part of their forthcoming box set The Sensual World of Black Emanuelle, which will be available for purchase on site at this event. The most comprehensive collection of its kind, the set was curated and produced by author Kier-La Janisse, and features the involvement of dozens of scholars, critics, historians and filmmakers. Stay tuned to severinfilms.com for the full list of contents and special features in the coming weeks.
